Stealing first base – a bygone rule of major league baseball that permitted a runner on second base to retreat back to first, chiefly to occupy a pitcher and allow a runner on third base to score.
Much like the vestige of this semi-altruistic and team-serving play, this blog will look critically and impartially at major league baseball: ultimately serving to question, and simultaneously promote, the game. Postings may take sides on issues salient to baseball, however the backing of any specific team or, likewise, players or owners won’t happen without sufficient and analytical support. Issues will range from topical to historical, and many will include both. I greatly appreciate feedback, as it helps me develop and inform my positions. I also welcome ideas for issues to write about.
